Which Fold Should I Choose?
- Accordion: panels fold back and forth in a zigzag. Great for step-by-step information or a timeline.
- Double parallel: folded in half, then in half again in the same direction. Opens to a wide spread.
- Roll fold: panels roll inward one after another, so readers unfold it a panel at a time.
- Gate fold: two side panels fold in to meet in the middle, then open like doors to a big center panel.
- Double gate: a gate fold that is folded in half once more, for a compact brochure with a dramatic reveal.
- Half then tri-fold: folded in half, then tri-folded. A favorite for maps, menus and guides.
- French fold: folded in half, then in half again the other way. Opens like a greeting card, then to a poster-size spread.
File Setup – Will My Brochure Fold Correctly?
- Specialty folds need panels of slightly different widths so they tuck in and line up. Most files we receive aren't set up that way.
- Print-ready: choose this if your file is a PDF at full flat size with 1/8" bleed and panels sized for your fold. We still check it and call you if it won't fold right.
- Set up my file to fold ($25 per order): we resize the panels, add bleed and line up the folds, then send you a proof.
- Design my brochure: send us your text, logo and photos and we'll quote the design before we start.
- Keep text and logos at least 1/8" from the trim and from each fold.

Understanding Proofing

Specialty Fold Brochure FAQ
- What's the difference between a gate fold and a double gate fold? A gate fold opens like two doors to one large inside panel. A double gate is folded in half once more, so it's smaller when closed and opens in two steps.
- Is there a minimum order? Specialty folds start at 250. For smaller runs of a tri-fold, half fold or Z-fold, see our brochure printing page.
- Can I order a quantity that isn't listed? Yes, request a quote or call 435-752-5235.
